Road marking mistake fixed by Ringway in Berkhamsted

Drivers in Berkhamsted were left confused this morning as road markings on a roundabout were painted the wrong way.

A reader sent in photos of the incorrect road markings on the roundabout in Lower King's Road, which were painted last night. But the mistake has been fixed quickly by Hertfordshire County Council's contractor for highway maintenance.

Ringway, the contractor for highway maintenance in Hertfordshire, quickly noticed the mistake and rectified the problem, at no cost to the council.

Kevin Carrol, Ringway divisional manager, working on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council, said: “We identified incorrect road markings in Lower King’s Road in Berkhamsted this morning.

"The work was carried out last night and we are sorry for this error.

"Our specialist road marking contractor has rectified the mistake this morning, at no cost to Hertfordshire County Council.

"We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused to residents and roads users in the area this morning.”
