‘Tell your county councillor how you want him or her to spend £90,000 on highway improvements’

Through Hertfordshire County Council’s highways locality budget scheme, people in Dacorum can influence what work is carried out on roads in the borough.

County councillors each have a highways locality budget of £90,000 for improving roads and pavements in their area.

In the Dacorum area during 2013/14 these have included resurfacing and repairs, other street improvements and verge enhancement.

The money has also been put into road markings, dropped kerbs, line painting and the introduction of waiting restrictions in the borough.

The council says that projects funded by highways locality budget allocations are in addition to the millions invested every year through its various highway maintenance and improvement programmes.

Cabinet Member for Highways Terry Douris said: “The highways locality budget scheme is allowing people in the Dacorum area to influence important decisions on highway works.

Residents who use local routes on a daily basis have a good knowledge of what problems need fixing and I hope people will get in touch with their county councillor and have their say on where funding is spent.”
