Ben and Kate Marston, of New Mill Terrace, Tring, hope to raise £20,000 from a crowdfunding campaign to make their Puddingstone Distillery project in Wilstone a reality early next year.

Their Campfire Gin will
initially be available as a bold 42 per cent London dry
version followed by navy strength and cask-aged varieties, while plans for seasonal gins using local botanicals are also in the pipeline.

Graphic designer Kate said: “We came up with name Puddingstone because we wanted it to have some
connection to the area.

“I did a lot of research on it and found out that people historically used Hertfordshire puddingstone to ward off evil spirits, so we thought that fitted with the gin theme, with it being a spirit.

“And they do say the proof is in the pudding!”

The Marstons are asking people to pledge what they can to the online campaign, which ends in 17 days.

Supporters will received a special signed and numbered bottle of Campfire Gin and their name engraved onto a plaque in the distillery.
