Dacorum Borough Council’s portfolio holder for residents and regulatory services Neil Harden said: “With our ongoing commitment to culture, in particular the arts, we are proud our recent investment in The Old Town Hall has brought back this popular club as a venue which everyone can now access and enjoy.”

The transformed space now boasts a new public entrance, a box office, a drinks area and improved disability access.

According to the council, the improvements will also allow for an even larger arts and cultural programme for residents and visitors to the borough to enjoy.

Old Town Hall manager Sara Railson said: “Many will remember The Cellar Club as an iconic venue that played host to some of the greatest names in British comedy, before they were household names.

“I’m sure the line- up of comedy and music which we have planned for the future will prove to be equally memorable in the years to come. I look forward to welcoming old and new friends through the red door of The Cellar Club.”
