Sienna’s new £6k chair will ‘change her life’

Sienna Hollick, nine, suffers from West Syndrome, a severe form of epilepsy which at its worst can cause up to 200 seizures a day.

Until recently, the youngster had been using a standard NHS wheelchair which caused her to develop scoliosis of the spine because it did not support her properly.

But now Sienna – who lives in Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead, with mum Becky, dad David and older sister Saphia, 10 – has a specially-adapted chair worth £6,300 all thanks to the generosity of the public.

Becky said: “We’re just so grateful to all who donated and we want to say a big thank you. It’s made us proud to live in Hemel.

“This chair will change Sienna’s life and we’ll be able to go on new adventures to the woods and the beach.

“We’ve never been able to take her out in the snow before, but if we have a white Christmas this year we will be able to build snowmen as a family for the first time.”

Hobletts Manor Junior School, Flegg Transport and Herts Fire and Rescue Service were among the fundraisers.

The chair – made by Trekinetic in Whiteleaf Road, Hemel – has a memory foam cushion, head rest, lap strap, foot rest and handbrake.
