The shortlistfor the award, which is widely acknowledged as the most prestigious award for writers of children’s fiction was announced in March, and students have until June 20, when the winner is revealed, to read as many books as they can.

They will then write reviews and give each title a star rating in their weekly meetings with Tring School’s learning resources manager, Suzanne Watkins.

On the day of the award, the school will be hosting a Carnegie Author Event, when about 64 students from eight Dacorum schools will come together for a day of workshops and discussion with the author of 7 Days and Crush, Eve Ainsworth.

The day will culminate in the announcement of the Dacorum Carnegie winner.
