Pubber was a Rolling Stone! Rock legend Ronnie Wood visits village tavern

Guitarist Ronnie Wood of Rolling Stones fame paid a surprise visit to Little Gaddesden’s Bridgewater Arms on Wednesday.

The legendary rocker accompanied wife Sally Humphreys in a trip to the family tavern – part of the Old English Inns chain of pubs – for a quiet one after a visit to Berkhamsted.

The Bridgewater Arms’ manager Nicola Draycott said: “We got a real shock when he walked through the door!

“He was absolutely lovely and was really happy to pose with the team for a picture.

“It was a real pleasure to have such a music legend in the Bridgewater Arms.”

Far from acting the A-list celeb, friendly Ronnie took time out to allow staff members Georgina Johnson, Lisa Thorne and Mel Knight to capture the moment with a photo.

The 67-year-old has played as an official member of the Rolling Stones alongside frontman Mick Jagger and guitarist Keith Richards since the 1980s.

The iconic musician has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Prince, Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr and Aretha Franklin.

Wood grew up not too far from Hertfordshire in the London borough of Hillingdon.

The enduring Rolling Stones – best known for hit songs including ‎Prodigal Son, Paint It Black, Let Me Go and How Can I Stop – celebrated their 50th anniversary in the summer of 2012 and toured the Middle East, Asia, Australia and Europe last year.
