Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning vows to keep his word by refusing to vote for new lockdown

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced his intention to activate a second national lockdown from Thursday November 5th until December 2nd.
A Number 10 source has told the national media that measures will be “time-limited” for four weeks, following Michael Gove's comments at the weekend that it may last beyond December 2nd.

Hide AdThe PM will update Parliament on a proposed national lockdown for England today, and MPs are set to vote on the measures on Wednesday.
But Mike Penning, the Tory MP for Hemel Hempstead since 2015, has told The Gazette he has no intention of voting in favour of a new lockdown.
"I will not be voting for a new lockdown," Mr Penning told The Gazette on Monday.
"I promised my constituents that I wouldn’t and I will keep my word."
The MP for Hemel will be appearing on BBC Three Counties radio to discuss the matter at around 3.10pm today.
