The team answered
questions about recent crimes, trading standards, neighbourhood watch meetings and en the commissioner’s on-going Road Safety Fund which is
currently inviting bids
from communities to
implement road safety schemes in their area.

This was one of several events to make the commissioner’s ‘district day’ which saw him head to events across each of
Hertfordshire’s ten districts and boroughs to discuss
crime and community
safety-related issues.

He also met with local police and fire services to discuss their latest issues, visited DriveSafe teams in action in Boxmoor and a ‘Silver Street Meet’ for the elderly community, before a roadside meeting with the BovingdonCommunity DriveSafe Group on the corner of Hempstead Road and Vicarage Lane. Started at the beginning of 2015, the group formed in response to speeding in the local community.

Commissioner Lloyd said: “This particular district day showed me first-hand the new innovative ways our police forward is stepping up and interacting with the public in new ways. Whilst online chatrooms may not be for everyone, there is no doubt this new resource is providing direct and
immediate contact with our PSCOs to support.”
