PM David Cameron could soon be quenching his thirst with Berkhamsted beer

Haresfoot Brewery’s All Rounder beer will be on tap at the prestigious Strangers’ Bar within the Palace of Westminster from next week.

It means that David Cameron himself could soon be quenching his thirst with a pint of the beer, which is sponsored by the Cricket Writers’ Club.

The bar has ordered six casks of the beer, each holding 72 pints, which brewery director Nigel Oseland estimates will take the politicians around a week to get through.

The deal came about after South West Herts MP David Gauke visited the brewery in River Park, Billet Lane.

Nigel said: “We were doing the test brews for All Rounder. He tried it and liked it so we said, if you like it how about getting us into the House of Commons.

“They must be inundated with breweries from all over the country asking to supply the Strangers’ Bar but David pushed it and he did well. He managed to convince them that they should take it.”

The brewery was founded by eight friends and has gone from strength to strength since being launched in 2014.

Wild Boy - one of its beers launched at Easter, is proving popular and not only with the locals. The brewery was commissioned by Mitchells and Butlers to supply the beer to its Nicholson’s Pubs and Ember Inns across the UK over the summer period. The Wild Boy has been spotted in pubs as far away as Glasgow and Edinburgh.

It’s name comes from Peter the Wild Boy - a feral child found by George I, who lived his life out in Northchurch and is buried in the village’s St Mary’s Church.

On Saturday, July 4 the brewery is hosting its annual Beer, Blues and Barbecue event at its base from midday to 6pm. Entry is free.
