An email sent out by Neighbourhood Watch said: “The reduction in activity around the school can provide the potential for criminal activity and anti-social behaviour to increase.

“Schools are often targeted by criminals over the summer holidays who want to steal computers and other school equipment. These thefts affect the whole community and the loss or damages have to be replaced or repaired.

“We need extra help from the local community during the school holidays to help protect local schools by becoming our eyes and ears, reporting any strange or unusual activity.”

In an emergency dial 999, otherwise contact Herts Police via the non-emergency number 101.
