Phillip runs for child bereavement charity

Phillip Duncan, aged 29, who is raising funds for Child Bereavement UK, will also be at Berkhamsted Market all day on Saturday, March 5, selling charity wristbands and tombola tickets.

Child Bereavement UK is a cause close to Phillip’s heart.

He said: “When I was 14, I lost my father suddenly after he died of a heart attack.

“This came as a total shock at a time when I was closer to my dad than ever before.

“I saw what every day was like for my mum to handle at such a tough time.

“I felt I had to be strong for her, so I never really let my feelings be shown at the time.

“This, I realise, had a profound affect on me personally as I continued not to share my emotions.

“Eventually I did seek help and support from external sources to talk about my experience and emotions. This included speaking to someone at Child Bereavement UK, which helped me hugely.

“I have chosen to run for Child Bereavement UK as it is a charity close to my heart and one I have a passion to support.

“It would be a real life-enhancing event for me to complete such a challenge for such a great charity and support those who have been or are going through a similar experience to mine.”

Phillip hopes to raise £2,500 for Child Bereavement UK.
