A woman was taken to hospital after her BMW was involved in a collision with an oil tanker in Hemel Hempstead this morning (March 26).

Police were called at 10.42am today, to reports of a collision on Green Lane - an oil tanker and BMW were involved in the collision.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "The driver of the BMW sustained an injury to her ankle and was taken to hospital.

"Road closures were put in place and these were lifted shortly before midday."

Police, firefighters and the ambulance service all attended the scene.

Two fire appliances from Hemel Hempstead were sent to the scene.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "A road traffic collision involving an oil tanker and a car, with no persons trapped. Casualties were attended to by the ambulance service. One hose reel was used to extinguish a fire in one of the vehicles."

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “An ambulance attended a road traffic collision on Green Lane in Hemel Hempstead just after 10.45am today.

"A female patient was transported to Watford General Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
