A woman from Northchurch is appealing for the public's help in finding her walking stick after it got mixed up with household items that were being thrown out.

Louise Eden was left 'heartbroken' when her husband accidentally took her walking stick to Northbridge Road Recycling Centre in Berkhamsted today (Monday).

She said: "My husband visited the Northbridge Road Recycling Centre in Berkhamsted today at about 11.30am and unbeknown to me he had taken my beautiful walking stick which had a bone handle and was decorated with a kingfisher and an owl.

"Somebody at the centre asked if they could have it and he handed it over!

"It is a ladies size stick, and the pictures were painted on, I think it also has the initials THC.

"I was given it many years ago, I won a competition and there was a letter sent as well by the man who made it, explaining why he made it.

"I am mortified that this mistake has happened, I had no idea it was with the boxes to go to the tip. I am heartbroken that I have probably lost it for good.

"I am truly distraught, if anyone has seen it, please, please could you get in touch with The Gazette."

If you can help Louise get her walking stick back, email [email protected].
