Tring Labour party stalwart supports 'caring for carers' during coronavirus lockdown

The joint chair of Dacorum Caring for Carers, Dick Lovelace, has been continuing to support the community during the coronavirus lockdown.

The Tring Labour Party stalwart has been focused on supporting the group for carers of loved ones with mental health problems.

Dick said: “I have made hundreds of telephone calls and emails trying to help people find solutions to problems such as feeding themselves as well as their loved ones, trying to explain to those who do not understand what ‘isolating’ means and how long two metres is.”

Dick’s work includes suicide prevention which has continued throughout the lockdown via Zoom, with some useful progress being made.

South West Hertfordshire Labour Chair, Juliet Miller said: “Dick’s work is a wonderful example of the contribution many Labour members are making in our communities during the pandemic.

"Coronavirus has exposed huge gaps in our welfare and social care systems.

"We are very fortunate in this area to have many voluntary groups who have the time and resources to help.

"In Mental Health Awareness Week we are highlighting the fact that there are many more people who need help at the moment, struggling with isolation, stress, depression, perhaps even trapped at home with an abusive partner.”
