Road closures have been put in place and neighbouring properties were evacuated after the roof of a property collapsed in Hemel Hempstead this afternoon (Wednesday).

Police were called at around 12.30pm today following an incident in Alexandra Road, Hemel Hempstead.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "It was reported that the roof of a property had collapsed.

"Officers are currently on scene, alongside colleagues from the fire service, to establish the circumstances around the incident.

"Neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution and road closures are in place.

"No one is reported to have been injured at this time."

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at around 12.32pm today (Wednesday) following an incident in Hemel Hempstead.

"Six appliances from Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, Garston, St Albans and Potters Bar have attended.

"The cause of the incident is yet to be established.

"Neighbouring properties are being evacuated as a precaution and road closures are being put in place. People are asked to please avoid the area."
