Road closures in place as fire crews tackle house fire in Hemel Hempstead

A number roads have been closed as Hertfordshire Police assist the fire service at a house fire in Hemel Hempstead.
Police were called by the fire service at around 5.30am today (Friday, April 9) to request assistance at the scene of a fire at a property in Thumpers, Hemel Hempstead.

Hide AdHertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called at 5.21am, eight fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform were sent to the incident.


A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to reports of a building fire, the first floor roof was well alight.
"Neighbouring properties were evacuated. All persons were accounted for.
"Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and two jets were used.

Hide Ad"At 7.20am the fire was out and the crews were checking for hot spots."
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "The occupant is safe and well.
"Road closures are currently in place and people are asked to please avoid the area at this time."
