Police were called to assist the ambulance service after a man fell ill in Berkhamsted this morning (Monday).

Officers were called by the ambulance service just before 10am today (10 May) to a report that a man had been taken ill on Broadwater, Berkhamsted.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "Officers attended to assist the ambulance service.

"The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene.

"The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) said: "The EEAST responded to an emergency call shortly after 9.30am regarding an incident in Berkhamsted.

"We sent two ambulances and a rapid response car to the scene. One patient was transported to Watford General Hospital for further care."
