He said: "Now we are walking out more I have noticed how the rainwater is gushing down the roads and not going down the drains.

"With the freezing conditions, the resulting dangerous potential ice rings are worrying for all road users as the water covers roads and footpaths.
"It appears most of the drains are blocked - full of debris, etc.
"Is there a plan for immediate clearing?"
Hertfordshire County Council is encouraging residents to report blocked drains or flooding on the council's online fault reporting system.

A spokesman for the council said: "We have an annual programme of cleaning out highway drains, however at this time of year when there is a prolonged period of rain the ground can become saturated and drainage systems can be temporarily overwhelmed.
"We’d encourage residents to report blocked drains or flooding on our online fault reporting system at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/faulterporting where you can also see how recently each drain has been cleaned."
