PCSO verbally abused and allegedly assaulted in Hemel Hempstead town centre

A man was arrested after he reportedly physically assaulted a PCSO officer in Hemel Hempstead town centre on Tuesday afternoon (22 September).

The male PCSO was cycling to a separate incident he had been dispatched to when he noticed a woman lying on the ground.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police said: "He stopped to check she was okay when a man began verbally abusing the PCSO and threw some items at him, before allegedly attempting to physically assault him.

"Further officers arrived at the scene before detaining the man.

"A 36-year-old man from Hemel Hempstead was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker."

The man has since been released on police bail.
