The charity is close to Footsteps heart, as the nursery’s owner has been living with the condition for four years.

The culmination of the fundraising for Cure Parkinson’s comes on April 18 when 13 members of Footsteps staff will be putting their best foot forward on a hike to the top of Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Peak District.

Footsteps area manager Emily Lowe said: “Our team will be completing a 12-kilometre hike of Kinder Scout, which is expected to take approximately six to eight hours to complete.

“As part of preparations, staff have gone out and bought lots of hiking gear and will be putting their training to the test by completing group walks around Rushmere, Ivinghoe Beacon, Stockgrove and other local areas each week.”

In the build-up to the hike the nursery is holding a series of events for the charity including a cake sale, book sale and competitions to name a teddy bear and guess how many sweets are in the jar.

It is also holding a large raffle in March and is hoping the community can help with donating prizes.

Among the prizes already donated are MK Dons family tickets, a Waitrose hamper, and gifts and offers from local businesses. Donations are welcome until the end of March before the raffle takes place in April.

The nursery looks after 75 children across its Leighton Buzzard and Hemel Hempstead sites, and to get them involved youngsters will be taking part in sponsored walks in their respective areas.

“We have an incredible, long serving team and we are extremely proud of our happy working environment - it really does have a positive impact on the little ones,” Emily explained.

“Our management team alone have a total of 60 years combined working together at Footsteps.

“This is also highlighted in special situations such as our Cure Parkinson’s charity event as we all so naturally pull together to help make a positive impact.

“I feel extremely proud to be managing such incredible settings supported by such incredible children, their families and of course the brilliant ladies who make it all happen each day.”

Tickets are on sale now priced at £5 per tickets, while to donate a raffle prize or towards the staff’s charity efforts email [email protected] or visit their JustGiving page.
