Three midwives who work for the West Hertfordshire NHS Hospitals Trust have signed up for a skydive to raise money for their local hospitals.

At the start of the pandemic Ellie Kinson, Tasha Parsons and Isabella - who are all friends and work for the NHS at Watford General Hospital - decided to do something to support local hospitals.

The trio have planned to jump out of a plane 15,000ft in the air in April - date to be confirmed due to coronavirus restrictions - to support Raise, the West Hertfordshire NHS Hospitals Charity.

The charity is dedicated to supporting staff and patient care across Hemel Hempstead, St Albans City and Watford General hospitals.

Ellie, 24, from St Albans, said: “We are so proud to do something like this for the NHS.

"Donations help fund equipment, environmental enhancements, staff training, and the extra patient comforts that make such a difference every day.

"With the challenge not taking place until hopefully April, there still is plenty of time to prepare."

The midwives have carried out various fun games to raise money on social media and are currently in the process of collecting prizes to do a raffle.

Tasha, 23, from Watford, said: “I cant wait to see the final amount we raise altogether for Raise."

They set a target of £2,000 which they have already passed.

Funds collected will go towards the maternity unit at Watford General Hospital to carry on raising staff morale, and to help continue providing high-quality maternity care for women during their pregnancy, labour and after the birth of their children.

Isabella, 22, from London, said: “So nervous but very excited to do such a good thing for the charity.”
