GAMA Healthcare is investing in a state of the art training facility that will be coming to Hemel Hempstead.

Infection prevention and control specialist GAMA Healthcare, best known for hospital disinfectant range Clinell, is investing in a world class simulation suite in The Maylands Building, which will support healthcare professionals on the frontline.

GAMA Healthcare has trained over 32,000 NHS healthcare professionals free of charge since 2016 and hopes to reach a further 10,000 NHS staff in 2021.

The simulation suite is the brainchild of the company’s clinical directors, who are passionate about improving quality in the NHS.

GAMA Healthcare has a strong heritage in education, guided by its four clinical directors who are all internationally renowned lecturers in infection prevention, allied with esteemed global Academic Institutions and involved in advising governments in infection prevention and control policy.

During COVID-19, the team were released back to the NHS, helping to guide infection prevention and control protocols at the height of the pandemic.

Yvonne Carter, clinical director at GAMA Healthcare, said: “We are thrilled to be able to welcome NHS staff working in infection prevention and control into our training suite in the New Year.

"Not only has GAMA Healthcare provided healthcare training for over a decade; between myself and the other Clinical Directors, with nearly 100 years combined IPC experience, sharing knowledge and skills both in the UK and abroad makes the clinical team a valuable resource when it comes to healthcare professional education,” comments

“Our training can be bespoke and developed to answer particular clinical challenges. Whether a team is battling a C. diff outbreak or a ward team wishing to learn about aseptic dressing techniques; we can develop a specific session.”

The simulation suite will consist of a ward environment encompassing a two-bed ward, an isolation suite (with en suite) and a utility area, where bedside equipment, such as IV stands and commodes, are cleaned.

There will also be a seminar area where presentations can be hosted (virtual webinars or face-to-face education).

The training will focus on surface disinfection predominately, covering topics such as cleaning protocols, product selection and promoting behaviour change.

GAMA Healthcare co-founder and managing director, Dr Guy Braverman, said: “We pride ourselves on being more than just a supplier of infection prevention and control products to the NHS, but as a true partner delivering the very best aftercare service we can,” adds .

“GAMA Healthcare is founded by two ex-NHS doctors and we know first-hand the demands facing everyone who works within the NHS, but particularly infection control, to continually improve quality.

"There is a definite need for continued learning provided and led by specialists in that area, which is why we’re investing in our new training suite.”

The training facility provides the perfect environment to host demonstrations and allow NHS staff the chance to assemble or program the technologies, troubleshooting any concerns or queries on-site with the trainers. The training facility will open next year.
