Local author L A Oldham-Sear has announced the release of Ben Belongs, the second book in her Little Lessons of the Heart series, following the success of her debut, Willow the Whispering Witch.

Written from the perspective of an author living with a chronic neurological condition and autism, the series aims to help children navigate a world that can often feel too fast, too loud, or too "bumpy."

While the first book, Willow the Whispering Witch, focused on finding magic in the quiet, Ben Belongs introduces readers to Ben, a young boy in a wheelchair who discovers that his "spark" comes from within. The story is a powerful reminder that children do not need to change to fit the world; instead, the world must change to include them.

"Living with an invisible disability myself, I know what it’s like to feel out of sync with the world's pace," says L A Oldham-Sear. "I wrote these books so that every child, whether they are neurodivergent, have a physical disability, or are simply sensitive souls, knows that they have a place where they truly belong."

The Little Lessons of the Heart series is available now on Amazon.
