Yarn bombers in Hemel Hempstead have been creating postbox toppers - through knitting and crocheting - to thank keyworkers for all their hard work throughout the pandemic.

Some of the toppers, which members of Yarnbomb Hemel Hempstead have created to celebrate the hard work of all key workers, have already gone out around the town.

They celebrate shops, schools, NHS workers and volunteers, lorry drivers, farmers and emergency personnel to name a few.

The group created a display banner to go outside Needlecraft to thank keyworkers, with members each decorating a square

The group also created a display banner to go outside Needlecraft to thank keyworkers, with members each decorating a square. It is expected to go up this week.

The plan is for the toppers and banner to stay up for April or as long as the ladies who made them want them to stay out.

Christine Allsop, founder of Yarnbomb Hemel, said: "This time the ladies chose some charities so each topper will have a label for the charity they are supporting.

"We are supporting Raise a Rainbow, The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, Fire fighter Charity and British Heart Foundation, or people can donate to Yarnbombhh.
