Graham, the newly appointed gardener did all the prep work and the pre-school staff - Tracey, Wendy, Phoebe and Dee - dug, painted, sawed, drilled and hammered to create a space the children could enjoy.

A spokesperson for the pre-school said: "But even the exhaustion of a hard days work couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces as the week came to an end and we were left with a wonderful, welcoming, engaging colourful environment for the children- a revamped mud kitchen, sensory path, special homes for the bugs a windmill allotment and a ‘clicky clacky busy table’.

"We’ve now been open since the September 7, and the children have settled back in like they’ve never been away, and it’s really great to see them enjoying all our different areas of play.

"It was so hard closing early because of Covid, and not being able to have the older children finish their vital transition term, but we really believe this garden will enhance the children’s learning through play no end."
