Counselling service for children and young people receives £2,000 donation from Amazon's Hemel Hempstead team

A counselling service for children and young people in Hertfordshire has received a £2,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Hemel Hempstead.

Signpost is committed to the continued provision of counselling, coaching and other support to help young people aged 10-25 and living in South and West Hertfordshire overcome problems in their lives.

The charity has been providing extra services to the community during COVID-19 in a bid to help young people overcome anxiety, stress and depression and family issues such as coping with long term illness or death as a result of the pandemic.

The donation from the Amazon team has been put towards providing one to one mental health counselling for young people.

Mark Keeney, site leader at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead, said: “Young people are under increased pressure due to COVID-19 and we wanted to offer our help to a charity in the Hertfordshire area offering crucial guidance and support during these times of restriction.”

The donation forms part of the ‘Amazon In The Community’ programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Helen Newman, manager at Signpost, said: “I want to extend a huge thank you to the team at Amazon in Hemel Hempstead from all of us here at Signpost. It is humbling to see our efforts recognised by such an established business in Hemel Hempstead.

"The money will help us to continue providing support for young people all over in county.”

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering 2.5 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
