Rennie Grove’s Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge makes a welcome return to the end-of-summer calendar this September.

On Sunday, September 12, walkers can enjoy the beautiful Chilterns countryside from a choice of three routes while raising vital funds for the charity’s specialist nursing care at this popular event kindly sponsored by Origin Doors and Windows.

After a scaled-down event in 2020 – featuring circular walks taking in just two peaks – the charity hopes to offer all three routes again this year - government guidelines permitting - ranging from eight to 20 miles in length.

The eight and 12 mile circular routes start and end at Princes Risborough School, giving walkers the chance to enjoy the stunning views from Whiteleaf Cross and Coombe Hill.

The 20-mile route starts at the school too, and follows the circular routes up the first two peaks before branching off for an additional eight-mile trek along the picturesque Ridgeway Trail before finishing at the top of Ivinghoe Beacon.

Arriva buses, which is donating the use of vehicles and volunteer drivers again for the day, will collect walkers and return them safely to their cars parked at Princes Risborough School.

To comply with Covid regulations and keep everyone safe, Rennie Grove is arranging staggered starts for each route and asking all participants to adhere to social distancing measures.

The charity is also encouraging all participants to raise sponsorship wherever possible.

Senior Challenge and Special Events Fundraiser, Emily Elvin, said: “Despite having to scale down last year’s event, our supporters did brilliantly and our one-off Chilterns 2 Peaks Challenge raised a staggering £65,000 towards our nursing care and support for local families facing life-limiting illness.

“Families are depending on us more than ever during the pandemic, with hospitals so busy and visiting hours restricted.

"Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our supporters, our nurses have been able to keep visiting patients in their homes throughout.

"If every person taking part in this year’s Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge could raise £57 in sponsorship – that would fund two hours of specialist care in a patient’s home and could make the

different between a patient being able to stay safe, at home, with their family – or having to be admitted to hospital as an emergency.”
