A spokesperson for Cats Protection said: “We have a lot of cats lost/found who are not chipped. It is very hard for all of us when we cannot find their owners to reunite them; this is one of the ways we feel we can help.”

Cats Protection are also able to help with the cost of neutering offering the procedure from just £10 (restrictions may apply). The offer applies to males/females. The spokesperson added: “Neutering/spaying your cat can help prevent them from straying and getting lost; unneutered males will travel a long way to find a mate and this is when we find they get lost. They will also fight to gain territory or females which can cause injuries requiring veterinary treatment.

"A unspayed female can have kittens from four months of age.”
