Ian Styles lives in Tring and is a director at EIC Insurance Services in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead. Away from work, 48-year-old Ian is a talented hockey player who is one of the star men in the England Masters Over 45 team.

What is your favourite food?

I love all sorts of food , but you cant beat a great home made steak and kidney pudding.

What’s the most played song on your iPod?

I havnt got one – a bit old fashioned I know !! But favourite would be Robbie Williams.

Favourite quote?

My Gran used to say: “The more you give in life, the more you will get back.”

Favourite thing to do to relax?

I use sport to relax, playing hockey for Tring and for the England Vintage Masters teams.
I am hoping to help England to glory at the the World Cup in Australia in 2016.

Thing you hate doing the most?

I undertake a lot of home duties, but hate cleaning loos!!

If you could have 5 famous people for dinner past or present who and why?

Mohammed Ali – fantastic charismatic boxer in his heyday , George Best – shear genius, Ian Botham – brilliant cricketer and character, two of my mates called “Splendid” and “Lobster” – they make me laugh a lot and are always there to support me and they would enjoy the other characters.

If you knew the world was ending in 2014, what would you do differently?

Buy an Aston Martin!!

If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be and why?

Probably the final of the 2003 World Cup, which I missed, having been at a funeral in Wales. It was a real naff-rocker to say the least. We got back into our pub and everybody was drunk except for us. England had just won!

As a child, what do you want to be when you grew up?

Funnily enough always wanted to be an architect but soon discovered that I had no talent for drawing!!

What was the last film you watched?

Captain Phillips... what a good film, edge of your seat stuff.

Captain Phillips is a 2013 American thriller film directed by Paul Greengrass and starring Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi. The film is inspired by the true story of the 2009 Maersk Alabama hijacking, an incident during which merchant mariner Captain Richard Phillips was taken hostage by pirates in the Indian Ocean led by Abduwali Muse.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

Taken two penalties in the final of the Hockey Masters world cup – a real frightener

What’s the best/worst gift you’ve ever given/received?

Best – a surprise trip as a present to Dubai.

Worst – any birthday card showing your age.

How would you like to be remembered?

What’s your favourite place to go in Dacorum?

You can’t beat Tring Museum and also Ivinghoe Beacon.

Ivinghoe Beacon is a prominent hill and landmark in the Chiltern Hills, standing 233 m (757 ft) above sea level. It is situated close to the village of Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire, the Ashridge Estate, and the villages of Aldbury and Little Gaddesden in Hertfordshire and is managed and owned by the National Trust. It is the starting point of the Icknield Way to the east, and the Ridgeway long-distance path to the west.
