The 21 month old heifer was bought by The Bell Hotel in Winslow and will be served at special beef nights in the New Year.

Mr Dickens said: “It was good to win two years on the trot. It’s lovely to have the show back in the town after last year.

“It was a great success again. There were a lot of people there. Although it did rain during the morning.”

Mr Dickens farms sheep and suckling cows on his 350 acre farm in Little Horwood and said showing was a hobby for his family.

The Winslow Christmas Primestock Show returned to the centre of the town last year, with prime cattle and sheep filling the market square for the first time in over 100 years.

It is a lovely return to tradition to see top class livestock at the centre of the community, so that everyone can be connected to our rural heritage and applaud the hard work of our farmers.

Participants competed for 17 trophies for cattle, sheep and show lambs.
