Age UK Dacorum

There are lots of ways for you to get involved from befriending someone who is isolated to helping in a club for people with memory problems.

An hour of your time could make such a difference to the life of an older person living on their own.

This home grown charity is looking to match volunteer befrienders with elderly people looking for companionship. Volunteers are needed for all areas but especially Markyate where there is an urgent need, including for someone who can speak Hindi, Punjabi or Urdu to befriend an elderly lady.

If you enjoy the company of older people, have good people skills and a caring nature this could be the role for you. Ideally, you would have your own transport or the ability to travel locally.

Could you help at one of our new fun and stimulating club for older people with mild to moderate memory problems in Kings Langley or Hemel Hempstead?

COGS clubs are run by Age UK Dacorum and are based on a programme of structured activity that has been found to help improve social relationships and self-esteem of people with mild to moderate dementia.

If you enjoy the company of older people, are friendly, fun loving, caring and kind and can spare some time on Tuesdays or Saturdays, this could be the volunteering role for you.

No specialist skills are needed but if you can help club members to feel welcome and at ease, make the tea and assist with clearing up then Age UK Dacorum would love to hear from you.

Please contact Volunteer Centre Dacorum for details of roles with Age UK Dacorum in other areas.
