'˜Misleading and very badly flawed' - Patients take aim at hospital claims

Patients have launched a broadside at NHS bosses, after West Herts Hospitals Trust produced a series of claims which they describe as 'seriously misleading'.

Last week the trust produced a new document outlining why they want to reduce services at Hemel Hempstead Hospital and concentrate on refurbishing Watford. But patients have been campaigning to have a new hospital built on green belt land near Kings Langley.

A spokesman for the hospitals said: “The trust has used industry experts to provide costings and we have no reason to doubt these figures.

“In terms of timescale, building on a land in the greenbelt is significantly more complex than building on a site that is already used as a hospital and that is why we are supporting the option to radically redevelop the site in Watford.”
