Man arrested in connection with hammer attack at sports centre

A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a hammer attack incident in Hemel in November, said police today.

Keith Gentry, from Thriftfield, Hemel Hempstead, was arrested on Saturday, January 9.

He was charged with two counts of criminal damage and one count of a public order offence.

Gentry has been bailed to appear at St Albans Magistrates Court on January 26.

On Saturday, November 14 last year, a man went into the foyer of Hemel Hempstead Sportspace and smashed up two computer consoles used by motorists to enter their number plate data.

He caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage at the centre on Park Road, sparking a police CCTV appeal.
