Lorry crash on the M1

Police were called at around 2pm to reports of an incident on the M1 southbound, between junctions 10 and 9.

A lorry is thought to have been in collision with a vehicle before striking the central reservation.

Officers are currently on scene alongside the fire and ambulance services.

A full closure is in place on the southbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 9 and is expected to remain for some time.

Motorists are therefore advised to avoid the area.

At this stage it is believed that the lorry driver may have suffered a medical episode and is being taken to hospital.
