Jarman Square complex is officially opened by Dacorum’s Mayor

The ribbon cutting on Tuesday marked the completion of the first phase of the Hemel Hempstead site’s major refurbishment.

Over the last year, Jarman Square - previously known as Leisure World - has been transformed into a multifaceted leisure destination offering something for the whole family.

Councillor Lawson said: “Jarman Square and its new restaurants, gym and ice-rink together with the Hemel Evolution programme, will breathe new life into Hemel Hempstead and I’m delighted to formally open it. Not only is Jarman Square a place for the local community to spend its leisure time but we hope it will also bring more visitors to the town from around Hertfordshire.”

In recent months major restaurants including Chiquito, Frankie and Benny’s and Nando’s have opened their doors, along with the refurbished Planet Ice.

Other eateries Coast to Coast, Hungry Horse and Subway have also started serving customers and there is also a gym.

Jenny Buck, head of property investment at Tesco Pension Fund, which owns the complex, said: “We are really excited to be officially opening the newly reformed Jarman Square leisure park. The fact that we are here today just shows how much hard work has gone into this project by Dacorum Borough Council and our development partners, Ediston Real Estate. Together, we have delivered a high quality, engaging destination for residents and visitors to the area, a facility that local people can really be proud of.”

As part of the relaunch of Jarman Square a new website has been created www.jarmansquare.co.uk.
