Helping older people enjoy Christmas

At-home care company, Home Instead Senior Care of Hemel Hempstead, is delighted with the success of their recent Christmas gift giving scheme, ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’.

The company joined forces with the Victoria Hall Day Centre in Tring, and Centre in the Park and Adeyfield Community Centre Coffee Groups in Hemel Hempstead in order to identify older people who otherwise might not receive a gift at Christmas.

Tesco’s in Tring and Sainsburys in Apsley Mills displayed a ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ Christmas tree in their stores and the trees were decorated with gift tags which included the types of gifts older people would welcome.

Shoppers picked a gift tag and donated that particular item to the Home Instead team, who were on hand to collect 150 generous gifts.

Home Instead staff then wrapped the gifts and delivered them to older people at a festive party, see picture above.
