The words ‘porno gay’ appeared on a page containing details about clothes store USC, before disappearing – but the glitch was picked up by customer Danny Mercer who alerted centre management and captured a video of the error (above).

The internet surfer was thanked for his help and told the Gazette that, luckily, he wasn’t the sort of person to be offended by the mishap.

Marlowes centre manager Vince Williams said: “Having been alerted to an issue with the Marlowes website this morning, we immediately deactivated the site and put up a holding page while this was being investigated.

“The website had indeed been hacked, however it has now been fully checked and is now live again.

“We do hope that this incident did not cause anyone offence.”
