Family’s war medals are stolen during house burglary

Crooks took 12 medals relating to the Boer War, the first and second World Wars and other honorary services medals and badge decorations during the raid at the home in Crossway, Berkhamsted.

British coins dating back to the 18th century were also stolen, along with a Packard Bell lap top, Panasonic camera and jewellery.

PC Francis Mungai said: “The medals belonged to the victim’s grandfathers and father and are of great sentimental value.

Obviously they would like to see these returned to them safely along with the other items stolen.

“The medals and old coins would more than likely stand out if they are being sold on, particularly on the internet, and I would urge anyone who may have seen these items for sale to please contact me with information.”

The break-in happened between July 23 and July 27, when burglars forced their way into the back of the property.
