An evening of music and dance at church’s ‘Roaring Twenties’ event

An evening of music and dance from the 1920s is to be held by St John the Baptist Church of Great Gaddesden.

The church committee are hosting the ‘Roaring Twenties’-inspired night at Gaddesden Place – an 18th century house – on Saturday, October 11 at 7.45pm.

The evening will begin with a champagne reception and feature a performance from the Silk Street Jazz Band, who have performed for the Queen. There will also be a buffet supper later on in the evening.

Fans of ITV’s period drama Downton Abbey will not want to miss out on this unique opportunity to experience the music and dance of the 1920s.

Event organiser Trevor Beale said: “We are extremely excited to be holding a 1920s evening to raise funds for our church. It looks to be a fantastic evening, and we would very much encourage people to come along.”

The Rev John Russell, vicar at St John the Baptist Church, said: “Events organised by members of the church are vital in order to help preserve the church and its heritage.”
