Police said there was an altercation between two men on Vauxhall Way at around 12.40am in the early hours of Saturday October 25, with one of the men punched in the face.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of GBH the day after the attack.

Paying tribute to her husband Olly’s wife Lisa said: “Our beloved Olly loved by so many, he was truly the most wonderful dad and loving husband but also the heart of our community.

“This has left us with a huge void in our lives that can never be filled.”

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information following the incident and Detective Inspector Caeva Taylor from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said: “Our thoughts are with Olly’s family at this very difficult time.

“We are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, to please come forward and help.

“We want to find out exactly what happened in the lead up to the assault. If you have any information, or witnessed what happened, please get in touch with us.

“If you attended the event, but did not see the assault, you may still be able to help. Please get in touch as you could have useful information.

“I would also like to add that we are aware of footage of the incident circulating and we would ask that people do not share this any further as to do so could jeopardise any future criminal proceedings.”

Tributes and messages of sympathy to the family were posted on social media following the police announcement of Olly’s death.

Lukie Hughes wrote: “Olly was a really lovely person. Always smiling and had such a funny personality.

“He will be greatly missed by many. Thoughts are with his family and close friends.”

Tony Conway wrote: “Can’t believe it. We were only singing your name at Wigan away {in the FA Cup} on Saturday.

“I genuinely thought you’d pull through - even told myself we’d have a proper chat next time I saw you, since the last time at the clubhouse was just a passing nod. Absolutely gutted. You were a top bloke.”
