Police are warning people to be aware of pickpockets in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre after a woman in her 80s had her purse stolen whilst she was shopping.

On Thursday, March 18, between 10.30am and 11am, a woman in her 80s had her purse stolen from her handbag whilst she was shopping in Tesco Express.

Anyone with any information can report it online or call the non-emergency number 101.

To prevent yourself or elderly relatives being the victim of this type of crime remember:

> Keep handbags and pockets closed at all times

> Always carry your bag in front over your shoulder

> Be aware of people around you

> Place your purse in an interior pocket.
