Tai protected handler PC Carl from violent offenders, tracked and detained hundreds of criminals as well as finding numerous missing people.
Among his brave achievements, the German Shepard ran into a burning flat with officers to rescue a hostage and detain the offender.

Hide AdA police spokesman said: "He has been an amazing police dog and prolific thief taker.
"He was well known to us on the unit and colleagues across the three forces for being an excellent tracking and searching dog and Tai and his handler received numerous commendations and awards together."
He also detained males in a stolen car armed with firearms who rammed a police car in an attempt to flee.
Tai has retired to live at home with his handler and family and put his paws up for a well-earned rest.

Hide AdHemel residents took to twitter to thank Tai for his service.
One said: "I've enjoyed following Tai on his illustrious career. He really has been an outstanding police dog.
"You’ll be missed on the unit I’m sure, but it’s now time for a fabulous retirement.
"So here’s to a long, happy and healthy one. Thank you Tai for your service. Enjoy your well deserved paws up."
Another added: "Thank you for everything you've done to help us keep safe, PD Tai. Enjoy your retirement with your family."
