Hemel Hempstead man charged after police seize stun gun, knives, and heroin

A man from Hemel Hempstead has been charged in connection with police raids which led to the recovery of weapons and class A drugs.

Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed this morning that two men have been charged in connection with a wider investigation into county line drug dealing in the region.

Specialist regional policing units teamed with the force to break into homes in Hemel Hempstead and Watford that are linked to the distribution of class A drugs. During the raids, which took place last Thursday, two men were arrested and crack cocaine and heroin, a stun gun, and three knives and £6,000 in cash were seized.

Devonte Jackson, aged 31, of Epping Green, Hemel Hempstead and Shadrick Abbe, aged 29, of Harrow Way, Watford, were subsequently charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, and possession of criminal property. Hertfordshire Constabulary revealed that Jackson was also charged with possession of an illegal firearm.

Both men are being held in police custody until a hearing at St Albans Crown Court on March 23.

Detective Sergeant Chris Cowell, from the County Lines Investigations Unit, said: “This operation was the culmination of months of work which targeted the ‘Power’ drug line, which is suspected of supplying crack cocaine and heroin across Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, St Albans, and Watford.

“These drug lines are run by organised crime groups who use violence and commit a whole range of crimes that pose a real threat to the community. Our investigations depend on information from members of the public to help us crack down on drug-related crime. Any information you can provide, no matter how small it may seem, could help us to identify and apprehend drug dealers.”
