David Lloyd said: “Our trial has shown it makes good business sense to have a part-time post which can fulfil the statutory and management requirements at a much reduced cost.

“The chief executive role will focus on strategic partnerships which provide an efficient solution to facilitate improved and co-ordinated service delivery in policing, crime and the community safety environment across Hertfordshire.”

Though the role will fulfil just 0.4 per cent of a full time role, the salary on offer is between £40,000 and £60,000.

A trial of the post was run with Herts fire chief Roy Wilsher alongside his Herts County Council role as director of community protection.

According to the commissioner, the future will include recruiting more police officers, commissioning new and improved services for victims in Hertfordshire as well as scrutinising the force’s performance and helping to make it more transparent.

Full details of the post can be found at www.hertscommissioner.org.
The closing date for entries is March 6.
