The Book Trade Charity

A mini bus driver is needed to take elderly and disabled residents from their home in Kings Langley on shopping trips and days out.

The Book Trade Charity provides housing, support and advice to those who have worked in the trade and need help.

Over 160 years old, the Retreat situated in Kings Langley, was built on land donated by the Victorian paper manufacturer, John Dickinson. Shopping trips take place on Tuesdays between 10.30am and 1pm and day trips are on the second Monday of each month.

Mini bus experience is preferred and the volunteer should be between 25 and 80 years of age. If you are good with people have a clean driving license and a sense of humour, this charity would like to hear from you.

Herts Library Service

A book club volunteer is needed to facilitate new groups for people with learning disabilities.

The groups will be using the ‘Books Beyond Words’ series that use pictures to tell stories tackling social issues such as general health and standing up for yourself.

The role is varied and involves helping to set up the venue and welcoming participants as well as keeping accurate records and supporting the group with book choices.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with an outgoing, friendly personality with good interactive and social skills. The right volunteer will be confident enough to lead the discussion whilst being sensitive and a good listener.
