Challenge Yourself: Can you spare time to support counselling service, or provide IT advice?

Relate in Dacorum has two great new opportunities for volunteers whose time commitment needs to be flexible.

Relate provides a counselling service to help people with their relationships and these new roles will be all about promoting their good work.

The first would be ideal for someone with internet access and an interest in marketing who wants to be home based.

The role involves identifying web based opportunities to promote Relate’s work, to keep the information live and up to date and to keep accurate records of listings.

The second would suit someone who enjoys talking to people and engaging them in a local charitable cause.

The charity is looking for individuals to visit shops, cafes, small businesses and community spaces in Berkhamsted High Street and Hemel Old Town High Street.

They will need to speak to the owners and managers about displaying Relate posters and leaflets in their premises and also be responsible for organising the display of those materials. For both roles an initial commitment of two to three hours a week would be required. After that it would reduce to two to three hours a month.

Do you love your iPad, tablet or laptop? If you are enthusiastic about sharing your IT skills, this home grown charity would love to hear from you.

They’re not looking for people with advanced technical skills, but experienced users who would be able to pass on top tips about how to make the best of what new technology has to offer and give those who might not be so comfortable with computers the confidence to have a go.

The charity, which runs affordable courses in community centres in Hemel Hempstead and Tring, is struggling to cater for the many people wanting to learn about their new iPad or tablet. IT volunteers are needed to work alongside tutors and should be proficient in using Skype, email and the internet.
