Cat and horse shot with air weapons

A cat and a horse have been shot with air weapons in a village, sparking a police investigation.

Officers were called after a cat was injured in Vicarage Road, Potten End.

It was reported that the animal had been shot with an air weapon, believed to be an air rifle, sometime between May 5 and May 19 and sustained an injury to its leg.

Between 7pm on Tuesday, June 9 and 6.30am on Wednesday, June 10, a horse was reportedly shot at with ball bearings while in a field off Hempstead Lane, also in Potten End.

It is believed the horse was shot at with a BB gun.

Both animals are now recovering.

At this stage, police are keeping an open mind as to whether the two incidents are linked.
