Thieves also stole a Vauxhall Insignia from the garage of the house in Crown Street between 7pm and 11pm on Wednesday November 26, police said yesterday (Thursday).

A Callaway driver golf club, gold pocket watch, four sets of gold cufflinks and other jewellery including rings, chains and the medallion, which shows a representation of the Acropolis were also nicked by thieves who smashed the window of a patio door while the occupants were out.

Detective Constable Dean Trollope said: “This burglary has left the victims very upset due to the sentimental value attached to the items stolen, particularly the pocket watch which was given to the victim by their father.

“As the items taken are fairly distinctive I would like to hear from anyone who has been offered them for sale or knows of their whereabouts.

“Equally, people may have seen a Vauxhall Insignia being driven in the area around the time of the burglary.

“If anyone did see this they should contact me as soon as possible.”
