Breaking News: Body found in search for missing man

A body has been discovered along Hemel Hempstead’s Nickey Line during the search for a missing man.

Police were looking for a man, aged in his 40s and from the town, who was reported missing this morning (Monday).

They found a body at around 11.40am off Midland Road.

Ambulance attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An eyewitness said: “They took a stretcher from an ambulance. They walked it about 200 yards down the Nickey Line to where the first steps are. Then about three paramedics and four police officers pushed it back up with a blue blanket over the top.

“Forensics were back and forward. The area remained cordoned off and even when the emergency services left the forensics were still working.”

A Herts Police spokesman said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and the matter will be passed to the coroner.”

The body has not yet been identified but police believe it is the missing man they were searching for.
